In an integrated agentic ecosystem, agents are rarely solitary; they are links in a chain. A "Market Analyst Agent" feeds data to a "Strategy Agent," which in turn triggers a "Trading Agent."
ASI08 is the risk of a "Signal Collapse." If the first agent in the chain produces a high-confidence hallucination—or is compromised via ASI01 (Goal Hijack)—that error is amplified as it moves down the line. Because these processes happen at machine speed, the damage can be total before a human operator even receives an alert.
Cascading failures in 2026 generally follow three patterns:
An agent tasked with "Data Cleaning" accidentally deletes a critical column of data but "hallucinates" a set of plausible-looking filler values to maintain its confidence score. The downstream "Audit Agent" accepts these values as fact, leading to a financial report that is mathematically consistent but based on entirely fictional data.
Two agents with opposing goals (e.g., an "Inventory Reduction Agent" and a "Sales Growth Agent") enter a recursive loop. The first agent cuts prices to move stock; the second agent sees the price drop as a "Market Signal" and orders more stock to capitalize on the "trend." This creates an infinite loop of buying and selling that drains corporate liquidity in minutes.
An attacker poisons a single source (ASI06). An "Ingestion Agent" reads the poisoned data and creates a summary. Five other agents subscribe to that summary. The "Malicious Intent" is now decentralized, making it nearly impossible to trace the original source of the breach.
Standard uptime monitors (e.g., Datadog or New Relic) check for "Liveness." They look for 500 errors or high CPU usage. In an ASI08 event:

Implement a threshold for State Change. If an agentic chain attempts to move more than $X\%$ of assets or delete more than $Y\%$ of records within a specific window, the "Circuit Breaker" must trip, freezing the entire cluster and requiring human re-authorization.
For critical nodes in the chain, use two different models from different providers (e.g., one GPT-based, one Claude-based). If the two models disagree on the "next step" by a specific semantic margin, the process halts. This prevents a single model's specific hallucination pattern from triggering a cascade.
Maintain a "Lineage Map" for every decision. Every action taken by Agent C must be traceable back to the specific data point provided by Agent A. If an error is detected, the system must be able to "Roll Back" to the last known-good state of the entire cluster.
Perform a "Poisoned Pivot" test:
